In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • Location is the headline. — One guest puts the Vatican at 600 metres and Ottaviano metro at about 20 metres; another calls it a five-minute walk to the Vatican and ten minutes to St Angelo Castle. The property description notes the Pantheon is 2.5 km away.
  • Rooms feel recently refreshed. — Guests describe clean, newly renovated rooms, comfortable beds and well-kept bathrooms, with air conditioning listed in the room details and cable TV mentioned in a review.
  • Staff are a real plus. — Staff score 8.4, and reviews mention friendly owners, a host who waited until 11.30pm to hand over keys and quick help when something was missing.
  • Breakfast is handled well. — Guests describe breakfast served at a cafe around the corner or in the room, with sandwiches, pastries and proper cappuccino; one guest found it small but a good start to the day.

Worth weighing

5 to weigh
  • Facilities score is very low. — At 2.5, facilities is the weakest guest category, and one review notes the building looks a little rundown even though the rooms feel new. Keep expectations for shared spaces modest.
  • Check-out comes early. — Guests need to be out by 10:00. The same review that praised luggage storage suggests you can plan around it, but it is a stricter departure than many hotels.
  • A small property with just four rooms. — This makes for personal service but limits the range of on-site facilities. It is a guest house, not a full-service hotel, and the facilities score reflects that.
  • Value is rated below the rest of the stay. — Value scores 7.4, while rooms and service both sit at 7.9. Guests generally found the location worth it, but the scorecard suggests expectations about price fairness should be measured.
  • Pets are not allowed. — The house policy explicitly excludes animals, so travellers with pets will need to find other accommodation.

“The location is outstanding, the room was huge, the staff were brilliant, the Wi-Fi worked well, and there's a lift.”

8Verified guest

“The owners were very nice, even though we didn't see them much because we were out all day. The location is great — about 12 to 15 minutes on foot from the Vatican. Ottaviano metro station is right outside the guest house door. The area feels safe and there are plenty of shops and cafes. Breakfast is served at a cafe one block around the corner, with a choice of sandwiches or pastries plus hot and cold drinks. They also make excellent cappuccino and cafe latte.”

8Verified guest

“We had a great stay. The location was wonderful, just a short walk from the metro and the Vatican. The room was clean, cosy and had everything we needed. Staff were friendly and the breakfast was tasty — overall a pleasant experience.”

8Verified guest

“The location was good, and the staff sorted out missing remote controls quickly.”

8Verified guest

“Excellent location near the metro and bus stops — you're almost in the Vatican. Wi-Fi was good. It only has four rooms, but the friendly staff are always on hand if you need anything.”

8Verified guest

“The location was perfect, right beside the Vatican and close to plenty of excellent restaurants and gelaterias. The room was kept tidy and the bed was exceptionally comfortable — just what we needed after long days of sightseeing. We also appreciated being able to leave our luggage and collect it later on departure day. Breakfast was a nice extra, and we thought it was great value.”
